My first overnighter

Mathwon was out of town this last weekend and so Demani and I spent the weekend with Grammy and Grampy Hiney. We had a blast, though we missed Daddy an awful lot! Friday, was our longest day out and about we've ever had! I left the house in MI at 10:30 and met mom in Toledo. We went to her workplace to introduce Demani to her coworkers and then went to the mall. We ate lunch and then walked the mall for about 5 hours! We got to Grammy's house at 8pm!! Demani was amazing! He was a perfect baby and just went along for the ride. I think Grammy and I were more tired than Demani was! He slept well for me too!

Saturday we went to see Howard and Dolly who are like grandparents to me. Grammy took a great picture of us! They are just the sweetest people. It was a joy to see them and spend time with them.

Sunday we got to hear Grampy preach and see friends. Grammy and Grampy didn't want Demani and I to leave. I assured them we will do it again! It was such a relaxing weekend and was very enjoyable. The weekend gave us confidence to try more overnighters!

My first basketball game

On Saturday, Demani went to his first basketball game. We went to the guys basketball game at Eastern Michigan. We had fun and Demani seemed to enjoy the game and watching all the people. We were able to introduce him to several of Mathwon's coworkers as well.

Demani got to meet Swoop the EMU mascot. We had no qualms about being the insane parents calling out to Swoop for the photo op. :)

He will be 4 months old this weekend (already!). He is chattering away. He vocalizes now just to hear his voice. He is playing with his toys and holds mommy's phone. He is a joy.

Lunch out with mom

Yesterday Demani and I had lunch with some friends of mine. Kathy and Christine and I met when we all worked at MCare. It was so good to see them! They are beautiful people We are going to meet once a month, right ladies? :) Demani did so very well. He sat in his car seat most of the time and just watched us. He didn't cry once but was content to just be there and enjoy lunch with us. He's such a good boy. Here is a picture of us out to eat.

I thought about going to the mall after we ate but I wanted Demani to be able to sleep well. Turns out I should have just gone to the mall because Demani didn't nap all that well but he did sleep well last night. He slept for 5 1/2 hours and then woke up to eat and then went back to sleep for another 3 hours. Mom and Dad enjoy sleeping in on a Saturday morning!

Demani: Active Church Member

It's been interesting figuring out how to do church with a baby, for the most part we've figured it out. However yesterday when Mathwon and Demani came to church Demani was asleep in the car seat and so we let him sleep. It usually works out that I feed him when they come at about 10:30 which gives me a half hour to feed him before church starts, but not yesterday! He woke up right before church started and then once the sermon started he wanted to eat. I went to the nursery to feed him and then came back in to church so I wouldn't miss singing the last song with praise team. After I sat down, Mathwon took him and was holding him. Then Pastor Clark paused and Demani let out this loud, uninhibited burp! Everyone around us heard it and we were all laughing! It was so funny!!

Yesterday afternoon Clark called us and asked Mathwon if he could control his son and make sure he burps during a loud praise song instead at the precise time the pastor pauses! (He was joking of course, he was laughing as he left the message!) I can't believe Clark heard that burp clear up at the front of the church!!! So Demani's first contribution to a church service is a burp! :)

Mom and Dad's first time out and my first giggle

Yesterday was the church's college ministry's valentine banquet and Grampy and Grammy came from OH to babysit. They were excited and so was I! They came bearing gifts from Cabellas for Demani :) All went very smoothly for us. I fed him right before we left and right before we got home mom gave him some milk I had pumped. I fed him when we got home and he was happy! Mathwon and I were happy to know that he did okay. I really thought he would and I didn't worry at all while we were gone. Mathwon was probably a bit more anxious than I was; I think partly because he wasn't home for too long before we had to go. Daddy likes his Demani time!

Grammy was joking with me before we left saying that she was going to get him to laugh while we were gone, (he's been on the cusp of it for a couple of days) and I said you better not!!! After we got home Grammy was changing his diaper and I was in the bathroom. Grammy shouts, Bethany come here quick! So I ran over there and he was giggling! We all about melted I think. We were tickling him and he was giggling. We were all crowded around the changing table and Mathwon had the video camera . Pretty soon he is going to haul out and laugh - I can't wait!

I put myself to sleep!

Yeah! Hip Hip Hooray! After a couple weeks of not napping very well Demani is in the midst of his second nap today. The first nap he fell asleep after eating and I held him for a bit and decided to try to lay him down and if he woke up I would put him in the sling. Amazingly, he stayed asleep. He slept for 2 1/2 hours. After bath time I dressed him in red for a Valentine's photo shoot and we took some pictures. He was on the floor on a blanket and fussed a little while I went and put a load in the washer. As I left the laundry room I noticed I didn't hear him and so I went right over to him and he was asleep! WOW! Good job Demani bear! I am pretty sure that is one of the first times he's not been put down asleep and has just fallen asleep on his own. So he is still sleeping!

He has started enjoying my many kisses and will grin and open his mouth and get my chin, my lip and my nose with his sweet, wet mouth! It is the cutest thing and I just eat it up!

Go Pistons Go Colts

Daddy went to a Pistons game last night while Demani and I went to a ladies church meeting. Demani and I had fun and I hope Mathwon did too! It is sure cold outside!

It is Demani's first Super Bowl this weekend. He likes to watch football! Daddy says he is going to be a quarterback, mommy says he can only be a commentator! Mathwon isn't sure who he is rooting for yet but I like Peyton so I am rooting for the Colts. Yes, I admint it's partly because I like his commercials :)

Aunt Kendra sent a package with a darling shirt in it and a note for Demani. It was fun opening it with him. I got a few good pictures of it too!

We are all going on a date tonight! I'm looking forward to it!

Have a great weekend!
