Happy New Year!

It's been a busy new year already...before I know it 2008 will be upon us - not that I am wishing the time away. We are having a great time. We've adjusted even more so to there being 3 of us instead of 2. I've always needed a ton of sleep but it seems I've adjusted to needing less. Christmas was fun with family and friends. We had a great time sharing our Christmas traditions with Demani. Demani and I decorated the tree together and I introduced him to exactly how we go about that. Because of being so focused on our little one we neglected to water the tree and had to lift it out of the stand, completely decorated, (because I spent valuable time decorating the tree and begged Mathwon to try to fix it without undecorating it), and Mathwon had to saw the bottom off in hopes that it would take water again. As you can imagine, this was quite the sight and we were laughing our heads off. I am hoping this does not become one of our traditions :)

It was really neat to have a newborn baby boy at Christmas time. All of a sudden I related a bit more to Mary; imagining what she must have felt that first night when she held her son and then jumping ahead to the heartbreak and pain she must have felt to see him on the cross. Also it was like I was singing the Christmas carols for the first time. The words were poignant and perfect. How had I missed that before?

Mathwon's sister, Timo, and her husband, Jason, came from CA to visit Demani and for Christmas. We had a fun time playing games with them and chatting. They loved on Demani and Panda. Panda was especially appreciative as I believe he's been feeling a bit neglected. Mathwon's dad (John) and Anthony, and Timo were here for Christmas Day. We had Christmas with my family on the 27th. We had a fun time being together and exchanging gifts. Demani was like one of the gifts at each of the Christmas gatherings, he was treasured and loved beyond measure!

Over Christmas break my sisters and my mom and I went to see The Holiday and Mathwon kept Demani here at the house. My dad and Tony, Tiffany's boyfriend, were here to help too. Dad walked Demani around the house to put him to sleep. We had a great time at the movie - and it was encouraging to me that I am able to get out of the house on my own for a bit!

Since Christmas, Demani and I have been getting back to our routine of seeing friends, taking care of the house, trying to make dinner, and just hanging out. We've had to deal with his first cold this week which has broken our hearts at times :( It is so amazing to me how much I love this little guy. There has been this whole new range and depth of emotion that I never would have experienced if I hadn't become a parent. I catch a glimpse of how God loves us. I can see it in Mathwon too, the love he has just oozes out of him. Just a minute ago he was walking around the house with Demani, through the kitchen, by the front door, through the office and dining room, and then back through the kitchen. Each time he went through the kitchen he would take a bite of his cookie and keep walking. Struck me as cute :)

Well I suppose I should sign off for tonight. I will do better at this blogging, I promise!
